Donostia / San Sebastián continues to go from strength to strength as a leading destination for congresses and conferences linked to knowledge, innovation and the creative industries. In April, the city will host different professional events where experts from the worlds of science, healthcare, academia and advertising will gather together; this will bolster the city’s role as an international meeting point for knowledge sharing.

From 13 to 16 April, the Psychology Faculty at the University of the Basque Country (EHU) will host the Conference of the Association of European Threat Assessment Professionals (AETAP), which nearly 150 experts in threat assessment and management will attend. This European meeting will consider the advances and best practices in the sphere of preventing violence, risk assessment and protecting people and organisations. The conference is run by the University of the Basque Country (EHU) as the local organisers.

On 17 and 18 April, the Kursaal Congress Centre will be the venue for the 23rd C Day – Creativity Contest, one of the main events of the advertising sector in the Spanish State. This event, organised by the Club de Creativos, will attract around 1,500 marketing, advertising and communication professionals in a space for inspiration, networking and reflection on the trends and challenges of the creative sector.

From 22 to 24 April, the Kursaal will then host the 20th National Congress of the Spanish Association of Surgical Nursing, which nearly 500 healthcare professionals are expected to attend. The congress, whose local organiser is Hospital Donostia, will be an opportunity to share knowledge, clinical experiences and advances in surgical nursing; it will thus contribute to professional development and to improving healthcare.

Finally, the San Sebastian Aquarium will be the venue for CHEMBIO VIII – GEQB-RSEQ Biennial Meeting, which will attract around a hundred researchers from the field of biological chemistry on 27 and 29 April. The event, organised locally by the EHU and biomaGUNE CIC research centre, will be an opportunity to showcase the latest advances in biological chemistry and foster cooperation among the scientific community.

Holding these conferences and congresses further bolsters Donostia/San Sebastián’s role as a MICE destination linked to knowledge, research, health and the creative industry; thus, making it more attractive as a venue to host international and national professional events.
