San Sebastián: A Leading Destination for Hosting International Congresses and Events

Donostia / San Sebastián continues to establish itself as a top destination for hosting international congresses and events. In recent months, Donostia San Sebastián Turismoas Convention Bureau has welcomed several delegations from prominent organizations and companies, who visited the city to assess its suitability as a venue for future events and congresses.

In May, the Convention Bureau conducted an inspection visit for the European Adhesives and Sealants Industry Association (FEICA) to evaluate Donostia as the host city for its congress, which will ultimately be held in September 2025. This visit was followed by two others: one by the Spanish Pediatric Association, which was impressed by the city’s cultural offerings and accommodations, and another by a company in the chemical sector, interested in exploring the city’s venues for their events.

In addition to inspection visits, the Convention Bureau has participated in key industry events such as IMEX America, held from October 8 to 10 in Las Vegas, where they engaged with congress organizers from around the world. It also played a pivotal role in the OPC Training Day, held on December 4 at the Arima Hotel, where best practices for optimizing congress organization were discussed and shared.

Thanks to these initiatives, Donostia/San Sebastián has demonstrated its capability to host large-scale events and has strengthened its position as an international benchmark in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.
