This July, San Sebastian unites educational innovation, quantum breakthroughs and computational chemistry

San Sebastian is gearing up for an action-packed July during which the city will reinforce its role as an international benchmark in science and education. Three top-tier conferences will hold their 2025 editions in iconic venues in the capital of Gipuzkoa.

At the start of the month, on July 3 and 4, the Faculty of Education, Philosophy and Anthropology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) will host the XIII International Multidisciplinary Congress on Educational Research (CIMIE). Organized by the Multidisciplinary Association for Educational Research (AMIE) and locally promoted by UPV/EHU, the congress will bring together teaching and research professionals under the motto “Science, diversity and coexistence for the success of all students.” During these sessions, a dedicated space will be created to exchange innovative studies and practices, with special attention to the didactics of Social Sciences in both formal and non-formal settings.

Half a fortnight later, from July 14 to 18, the Miramar Palace will welcome the “Quantum Designer’s Special Edition: 100 Years of Quantum” (QD100). This commemorative edition of the long-running Quantum Designer Physics workshop is driven by the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) as part of the UPV/EHU Summer Courses. Professionals in physics, engineering and mathematics will debate the latest advances in designed quantum systems.

To close out the month, from July 28 to 30, the Miramar Palace will again host the symposium “Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modeling: 25 Years Promoting Excellence in Science” (25TCCM), also organized by DIPC within the UPV/EHU Summer Courses. This commemorative gathering marks the 25th anniversary of the Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modeling (TCCM) and will serve as a meeting point for former program participants—from newly enrolled students to seasoned science professionals—to reflect on the program’s achievements and its impact on their careers.

With these three events, San Sebastian once again demonstrates its ability to attract and organize high-level international conferences, cementing its commitment to academic excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration.
