November sees San Sebastián become the meeting point for research, cybersecurity and women’s sport
- 2025 Nov 01
Donostia/San Sebastián is yet again the venue for top-tier conferences this month; in November, the city will host four important events that will gather together nearly 1,100 professionals from fields ranging from research and technological innovation to gender equality and environmental health.

The month kicks off with the ‘XLVII Congress of the Iberian Society of Biomechanics and Biomaterials (SIBB)’, when 200 delegates will gather at the Miramar Palace on 6 and 7 November. The congress organised by CICbiomaGUNE and Polymat will explore three core areas of Society: biomaterials, biomedicine and sports biomechanics. It will be an interdisciplinary and dynamic forum for researchers to present their latest developments.
Cybefront Donostia 2025 will be held in such iconic venues as the Kursaal, Tabakalera and Ekinn on 17 and 18 November. This event, organised by the GAIA Cluster and CyberEus, will gather together 600 participations to discuss the most recent challenges and opportunities in the field of cybersecurity and frontier technologies.
As the month comes to a close, the Social Inequalities, Environment and Health Scientific Conference (INMA-Childhood and Environment), run by the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) through the researcher Jesús Ibarluzea, will be held on 25 and 26 November. This forum, which 100 delegates are expected to attend, will explore the link between social inequalities, the environment and health, particularly as regards children, in order to generate more inclusive and strategic knowledge in this field.
The month will end with the IV State Congress on Women and Sport (CEMYD) on 28 and 29 November; 160 people are expected to take part in this event organised by Gipuzkoa Provincial Government and the Spanish Women and Sport Congress Association. This congress with the tagline ‘Changing the Playing Field’ is an opportunity to reflect on and discuss the situation of women in sport in Spain, identify persistent barriers and foster innovative solutions that truly drive equality and empowerment.
Overall, this busy schedule further bolsters San Sebastián’s capacity to attract and host specialist conferences and congresses that generate impact and boost the local MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) ecosystem. The city is yet again being showcased as a coveted destination for technological, professional and academic exchange.
